In Pursuit of Space for Black Writers
At FIYAH, we like to think we’re doing a little more than providing an outlet for Black SFF. We have always been about fostering community and doing everything in our power to correct the bias and imbalance that made us a necessary space in the first place. We participate in Fireside Fiction Co.’s annual #BlackSpecFic Reports, which look at the annual performance of SFF markets in terms of publishing Black writers. We author the biannual #BSFReport, which surveys Black writers on their experiences on submission. Give us a minute and we’ll have a workshop or two for you as well!
